Here is a feature on Counsilman, who will hopefully earn induction into the USOPC Hall of Fame. Indiana University (1959-1990)…

Texas Captures 16th National Title Behind Hubert Kos, Bob Bowman and Reassembled Longhorns Roster A seventh-place finish at last year’s NCAA Men’s Championships was a highly unusual result for a University of Texas team so accustomed to finishing atop the table. During the four decades in which Eddie Reese helmed the program, Texas won 15 national titles, the most all-time by a single swimming program (men’s or women’s) and by a single coach. For 15 consecutive national meets from 2008 through 2023, Texas finished in the top three, and it would have been 16 if not for the cancellation of…
Georgia’s Jake Magahey Finds Fifth Straight A Final in ‘Baby’ 500 Free Rewarding Jake Magahey calls the 500 free “my baby.” Like any baby, the nurturing process isn’t uniform or smooth. There have been sleepless nights, frustration, struggles to maintain context on a bad day. The Dacula, Georgia native’s memory of his first 500 when he was 13 years old remains vivid. And there’s been joy, maybe not any that matched the on-paper pinnacle of Magahey’s NCAA title as a freshman in 2021, but efforts that have brought fulfillment. And along that occasionally uneven journey, Magahey has earned his way…
Hubert Kos’ Marchand Moments Instrumental to Texas Title Hubert Kos’ comparison of the 2025 NCAA Championships with the 2024 edition quickly tracks to the individual. “What stands out about this one,” Kos said, still dripping from his fully clothed dip in the diving well at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center Saturday night, “is that I actually swam well.” Kos can be a harsh self-critic, and by the Hungarian Olympian’s standards, the 2024 NCAA Championships didn’t personally measure up. Yes, as a sophomore at Arizona State, he’d celebrated a momentous first title for the Sun Devils in which he made…
